About Scoutmaster Jose G. Lepervanche – @ScoutmasterJose – Scouting Bio

Dr. Jose G. Lepervanche Scouting experience began in the Scouts of Venezuela Association where we was Sea Scout, Boy Scouts and Guide Scouts Scouter, District Outreach Commissioner, and participant of an International Scouting Leadership Training. Since moving to the United States he has been an active Scouter in both the South Florida (Pack 850 and Troop 840) and North Florida Councils. He is currently NFC Sea Scouts Council Committee Chair / Council Commodore and immediate past VP of Program for North Florida Council. He was member of NFC Executive Board (2014-2019).
 
He was Associate Advisor of Venturing Crew 909. He was Scoutmaster of Troop 182 from 2006 to 2013 and he was selected by BSA in 2009 as one of 43 National Distinguished Scoutmasters. His Jamborees experience include: Visitor and speaker to 300 CPR trainees in NSJ2010, ASM in NSJ2013, ASM in WSJ2015 in Japan, and Unit leader in 2016 International Scottish Jamborette. After meeting with Sea Scouts of Gibraltar, he attended 2017 Seabadge course and formed NFC Sea Scouts Task Force to relaunch Sea Scouts in North Florida. He founded Sea Scout Ship 283 “Poseidon” in late 2017.

Jose earned his first Wood Badge beads in Venezuela in 1993. After moving to the US, he earned his Wood Badge beads again in 2005 after being a participant in Wood Badge Course SR-651 where he was a member of the Eagle Patrol. He earned his third bead as NYLT Course Director (2010 and 2011). Jose has been staff of every National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT Brownsea) since 2007 and he has attended most of  NYLT Course Directors Conference since 2009. He was Troop Guide in 2013 Wood Badge course and earned his fourth Wood Badge beads. He is 2019 Crew Guide for Seabadge course.

He is a brotherhood member of the Order of the Arrow Echockotee Lodge, instructor at University of Scouting and Trainer’s Edge, and World Organization of Scouting Movement (WOSM) English-Spanish translator.  He has published his Scoutoons in Wood Badge Gilwell Gazette. After being saved by CPR during a summer camp, he has been public speaker for BSA Speaker Bureau (Scouting for youth leaders and managers, Scouting 101 for college students) and American Heart Association about CPR / AED awareness and training and about the importance of being physically strong.

Dr. Lepervanche is the inaugural Professor of Supervision and Management at Florida State College at Jacksonville (www.lepervanche.org). Jose is married to Flor Ramirez Lepervanche and has two adult children including an Eagle Scout and two grandchildren.
