Global Messengers of Peace. We ALL are Messengers of Peace. The Dalai Lama said today “On this International Day of Peace, we must remember that peace cannot come from prayer alone. It requires action”. . We say that we should Think Globally, Act Locally and Globally. As Global Messengers of Peace, we should work in our local communities and share what others are doing in their own communities. As Global Scouts we ALL should be involved as #MessengersOfPeace and share our service to other groups, students, and communities. We are expanding our #ScoutingAdventures to our students in college and universities. At the same time, we are sharing what other groups are doing to work for #GlobalPeace. We ALL are #GlobalMessengersOfPeace.
From YouTube description: “We invite you to join the Scouting associations of North America to “Unlock a New World” at the 2019 World Scout Jamboree. For the first time, a world jamboree will be hosted by three national Scout organizations: Scouts Canada, Asociación de Scouts de México, and the Boy Scouts of America. These three distinct cultures will join together to host the world Scouting community in a celebration of cultural exchange, mutual understanding, peace, and friendship.
The 2019 World Scout Jamboree will be held July 22 through August 2, 2019, at The Summit Bechtel Family National Scout Reserve in the beautiful mountains of West Virginia, USA. Unlike any other youth event, a world Scout jamboree invites you to surround yourself in the cultures of the world by joining your new Scouting friends at a single destination for 12 unforgettable days. The jamboree experience extends beyond your home—and beyond the boundaries of our host countries—to create a global adventure that will last a lifetime.”

During the 23rd World Scout Jamboree 2015 in Japan, close to 34,000 scouts from around 150 countries attended the Hiroshima Peace Program organized by the Scouts of Hiroshima. We visited the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum and Park and participated in several activities including reading messages of survivors and making origami cranes for peace.
After our return from Japan we are preparing several presentations for students and our community about “Japan 70 years later”. They include Hiroshima 70 years later, origami cranes for peace, the World Scout Jamboree experience, and Nuclear energy and safety in Japan.
The emphasis of all presentations are about the importance about being Messengers of Peace and our service to others to pursue peace, freedom, friendship and happiness in our planet.
